Data Scientist

Salary: Up to £35,000

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our high-profile data science team. We are looking for a Data Scientist to help craft the future of Commercial Lines insurance at Aviva through innovative data science.

The UK team is recognised as a centre of excellence in our Global Data Science Practice – providing new data-driven insights that strengthen decision making across the Aviva Group.

A bit about the job:

This is a key role in the execution of the Aviva Data Science Strategy, helping to drive data led innovation to improve our brokers experience and economics of our commercial business lines.

We partner to transform Commercial Lines performance, providing insights to identify, optimise and automate opportunities.

We are looking for someone with a keen interest in exploring new and emerging data science technologies, such as genial and natural language processing, to address real business problems. You will have the opportunity to unlock the potential of unstructured data to help automate and simplify operational processes.

As part of a team, you will be encouraged to actively collaborate and knowledge share helping to push solutions forward as well as develop both yourself and others.

You will be a proficient statistical programmer but have the ability to communicate and translate to a non-technical business audience. Experience of leveraging data science techniques to solve business problems would be beneficial.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

• Solid programming language experience such as Python, R, SQL or similar.
• Understanding and application of NLP related techniques would be ideal.
• Analytical mindset and creative thinker/problem solver.
• Organised self-starter, with drive and commitment.
• Communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present to non-technical audiences.

• Salary Up to £35,000 (location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
