Position title
Computer/Data Science Internship: Generation for Machine-learning based Test Advice
Description

Introduction

Are you a graduating MBO or Bachelor's student or a Master student in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering or a related field looking for an apprentice or graduation internship? Do you have a strong understanding of fundamental machine learning concepts and have good knowledge in C++, Java and Python? Then this internship might be interesting to you!

Background information

ASML is an innovation leader in the semiconductor industry. We provide microchip makers with everything they need – hardware, software and services – to mass produce patterns on silicon through lithography. Within ASML the Development & Engineering cluster is responsible for the specification and the design of ASML products. In this cluster, the department Software Quality & Integration (SQI) maintains the test infrastructure used by software projects, specifies, executes and controls the testing and integration of the various software deliveries into different software releases. Test Infrastructure is a group within SQI department that builds, maintains and improves the test infrastructure (both hardware and automation software) for managing automated test execution, supporting CICD WoW and overall continuous, reliable integration and deployment of the different software releases. The software delivery process is a mission critical component of our business. Software testing, therefore is a very important, but also expensive part of it. The prospect of bringing data-driven insights to improve our testing strategies has great potential to increase quality of our deliveries and reduce costs.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to work on industry-leading projects and technologies.

  • Guidance and mentorship from experienced professionals in the field.

  • Access to state-of-the-art resources and tools.

  • Valuable hands-on experience in a real-world setting.

  • Networking opportunities within the company and industry.

Your assignment

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled student intern to join our team for an interesting internship assignment. The intern will focus on developing machine learning models to provide real-time, data-driven and custom-tailored test advice for individual software changes and deliveries. This project aims to enhance our software testing processes by finding and offering optimal test coverage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Analysis and Pre-processing: Collect, prepare and work with large datasets to identify patterns and extract metrics for modeling.

  • Model Training: Train models to analyze software changes and predict testing needs.

  • Implementation and Testing: Automated processes. Implement models in a real-world environment and continuously test and refine them based on feedback and results.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with software development, integration and testing teams to understand requirements and integrate machine learning insights into the software delivery  cycle.

  • Documentation: Document the development process, model architectures, and experiment outcomes.

Your Profile

To be a perfect match for this internship, you:

  • Are a graduating MBO or Bachelor's student or Master student in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering or a related study.

  • Have a strong understanding of fundamental machine learning concepts and algorithms and have practical experience with common Machine Learning and data handling packages (e.g. Scikit-learn, LightGBM, XGBoost, Pandas).

  • Have database experience (SQL) and programming experience with languages such as Python, Java, C++.

  • Are enthusiastic, flexible and pragmatic and have a strong analytical and problem-solving oriented mindset with a can-do mentality.

  • Have great communication skills and are fluent in English both verbally and in writing.

This is a MBO, Bachelor or Master internship with a duration of a minimum of 6 months, for 4-5 days a week, starting as soon as possible.

Please note that we can only consider students who are enrolled at an educational institution for the entire duration of the internship.

This position requires access to U.S. controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations. Change the world – one nanometer at a time

Become an intern at a Dutch company that’s a global industry leader. You’ll gain valuable experience in a highly innovative environment – one that sparks your imagination and creativity. In addition to a monthly internship allowance of maximum €600 (plus a possible housing and free public transport), you’ll get practical guidance from experts in the field and the chance to work in and experience a dynamic team environment.

ASML - be part of progress

ASML is a high-tech company headquartered in the Netherlands. We manufacture the complex lithography machines that chipmakers use to produce integrated circuits, or computer chips. What we do is at the heart of all the electronic devices that keep us informed, entertained and connected. Every day, you use electronics that simply wouldn’t exist without our machines.

Behind ASML’s innovations are engineers who think ahead. The people who work at our company include some of the most creative minds in physics, electrical engineering, mathematics, chemistry, mechatronics, optics, mechanical engineering, computer science and fields which are not technical oriented.

We believe we can always do better. We believe the winning idea can come from anyone. We love what we do – not because it’s easy, but because it’s hard.

Students - getting ready for real-world R&D

We’re a global team of about 39,000 people of 140 different nationalities and counting. Headquartered in Europe’s top tech hub, the Brainport Eindhoven region in the Netherlands, our operations are spread across Europe, Asia and the US.

In such an environment, your colleagues may be sitting next door, or they could be thousands of kilometers away in a different country – or even working for a different company.

An internship at ASML is the opportunity to get to know not only the world of industrial-strength R&D, but yourself – you’ll discover just what excites you most. Will you design a part of the machine, or make sure it gets built to the tightest possible specifications? Will you write software that drives the system to its best performance, or work side-by-side with the engineers of our customers in a fab, optimizing a system to the requirements of the customer?

How will you be part of progress?
