THE ROLE
As an Analytics Engineer, you will be responsible for managing, administering, and maintaining our Looker instance to ensure its optimal performance and reliability. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand their analytics needs and implement solutions within Looker. Your role will involve configuring user access, optimizing performance, troubleshooting issues, and staying up-to-date with Looker's latest features and best practices. Additionally, you will be responsible for training users and providing ongoing support to ensure they can effectively leverage Looker for data analysis and reporting.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Looker Instance Administration:
  • Configure and maintain Looker instance settings, including user roles, permissions, and access controls.
  • Manage LookML models, explore files, and dashboards to ensure accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Monitor system performance and implement optimizations to enhance query performance and minimize downtime.
  • Stay informed about Looker releases, updates, and best practices to ensure our instance is up-to-date and aligned with industry standards.
  • User Support and Training:
  • Provide training sessions and workshops to onboard new users and empower existing users to effectively utilize Looker for data analysis and reporting.
  • Offer ongoing support to address user questions, troubleshoot issues, and provide guidance on best practices for using Looker.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, FAQs, and tutorials to facilitate self-service support and knowledge sharing among users.
  • Collaboration and Integration:
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable insights within Looker.
  • Work closely with IT and security teams to ensure compliance with data governance policies and security standards.
  • Integrate Looker with other data sources, tools, and platforms to streamline data workflows and enable seamless data access and analysis.
  • Quality Assurance and Testing:
  • Conduct regular quality assurance checks to verify the accuracy and reliability of data models, reports, and dashboards in Looker.
  • Perform thorough testing of new features, updates, and configurations to identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies before deployment to production.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Proven experience administering and maintaining Looker instances in a production environment.
  • Strong understanding of SQL, LookML, and relational databases.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and data integrity.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

As an Analytics Engineer, you will be responsible for managing, administering, and maintaining our Looker instance to ensure its optimal performance and reliability.
